Africa is most vulnerable to shocks and stresses which have increasingly become common not only in rural poor areas but also in fragile ecologically sensitive areas. Some of these can be short while others can be long term and they normally compromise welfare. Considering the workforce, research information, capacity, dissemination; AUC is designing early warning indicators and systems to be used in most risk areas, disasters for Africa. This will aim at safeguarding lives and increasing emergency responses, and management plans to arrest the situations. The design is considering both indicators from a wide range such as (industrial-technological), social, economic, environmental, ecological, biodiversity and cultural as well. Priorities will be addressed from different issues regarding social groups but related to the environment in general.
Coffee Biodiversity Initiative (CBI)
Coffee production and its productivity are now focused as a strong sector in the big economic, social but also environmental challenges facing the growing communities now and over the coming years. In Africa it is now vital to hold discussions focused around how Coffee demands will affect climate and lead to climate change, biodiversity and…
Water Resource Conflict
The human population around the globe will continue to increase but the technological innovation and it’s eventual carbon dioxide emissions will continue to threaten water resource needs, water is an excellent building material whereas flexible and compressible. Water resource threats come from its physical and chemical properties of the earth. The entire earthly system depends…
Water stressed environments
Water a finite resource under climate change regimes is caused by land degradation and other ecological complex problems. that include availability of surface water sources mainly in cattle corridors of Africa. The cumulative effect of land degradation leading to shocks such as droughts are triggering unpredictable disturbance in human population.
TROP ICS
The quality of life of future generations is largely dependent on the quality of education that we impart to today’s students. Educational methods are more effective when students are challenged to identify the cause and effect of a problem that they can relate to their life. AUC hosted two capacity building workshops o university lecturer’s…
