The African continent is among the most vulnerable in respect of climate change. This is so for various reasons, among which the restricted access to resources and limited adaptive capacity can be mentioned. It is assumed that climate change impacts will particularly affect poor countries and eventually the adaptation measure can be costly. In some African countries it has been observed that water levels have declined, reduced agricultural productivity has followed, break up of strange diseases. There is a perceived need to foster awareness about climate change targeting different audiences such as grass-root communities, indigenous groups, schools and universities in Africa and to engage young people and future professionals in the search for local solutions for a problem with severe implications to the African continent. Although much is written and spoken about climate change in Africa in scientific circles, little information filters through other levels. Since much can be gained by using scientific information to foster the debate on climate change across Africa AUC will adopt mechanisms to promote this education.
